Senior Levy Funds Granted
Licking County JFS has been awarded Senior Levy funds to expand current Adult Protective Services (APS) to help meet the increased demands for services. Senior Levy dollars will be used to expand outreach and education efforts, provide information and referral services for situations which do not warrant a full investigation, coordinate the Interdisciplinary Team of specialists for multi-system clients, and provide emergency funding for short term basic needs services for the elderly. Licking County JFS has employed only one APS Social Worker for over 35 years. The increase in the aging population combined with the troubled economy and social issues such as drug and alcohol abuse has not only increased the number of referrals, but have also increased the severity of the referrals. Licking County JFS Adult Protective funds have been reduced 87% over the years jeopardizing the services to that keep vulnerable elderly adults safe from abuse, neglect and exploitation. The senior levy funds will help keep Licking County senior citizens safe and independent. For more information regarding Adult Protective Services contact Mellissa Terry at 740-670-8800.
